In honor of National Poetry Month, Lifetime Learning is featuring poems written by esteemed faculty all month long. The sixth poem in this series is written by Marga Odahowski, of the University of Virginia Contemplative Sciences Center. She is the author of The Way of the Hammock – Designing Calm for a Busy Life (Hay House Publications 2014). She says this about her poem:

Marga Photo“I wrote this poem to describe one of the transformative tools I teach, mindfulness. The beauty of mindfulness is the sense of creativity it fosters. The ability to ask, what if questions and to look at things differently. Embodying mindfulness brings us back into our senses and expands our intuition. When you take the time to slow down, listen, and reflect an expansive mind appears that is decisive and compassionate. Don’t wait any longer wonder is here for the taking.”
