UVA Club of Shanghai: Reception to Welcome UVA Faculty
The UVA Club of Shanghai invites all alumni, students, friends, and families to join us in welcoming a distinguished group of UVA faculty to our city. We will host a casual reception at the Langham Hotel in the historic Xintiandi district on Wednesday, January 8 from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring light hors d’oeurves and an open bar. Attendance is free.
This is an excellent opportunity to connect with this influential group who are in Shanghai to participate in panel discussions with Chinese scholars about the 2024 U.S. presidential election and prospects of U.S.-China relations in the coming years.
Expected to attend are:
- Harry Harding (PAR '20), Faculty Senior Fellow, and founding Dean of the Batten School of Public Policy
- Shirley Lin (PAR '20), Miller Center Research Professor and Chair of the Center for Asia-Pacific Resilience and Innovation (CAPRI)
- Scott Miller (Grad School of Arts & Sciences '15, '18), Director of the Project on Democracy and Capitalism and Darden lecturer
- Mimi Riley, Miller Center Compton Professor and Director of the Ripples of Hope Project and professor in the Law School, School of Medicine, and Batten School
- Mara Rudman, Miller Center Schlesinger Distinguished Professor, who served in the Obama and Clinton administrations, including as deputy assistant to the president for national security affairs
It’s also a wonderful chance to mix and mingle with your local UVA community and get updates from Grounds. Pre-registration is appreciated. We hope to see you there!
