The UVA Club of Charlottesville is a community club, regardless of your affiliation with the University of Virginia. We host a series of educational, networking, athletic, charitable and social events where you will meet many people in the greater Charlottesville/Albemarle area who have an appreciation for UVA and its critically important role in the community in which it thrives.
Scholarship Fund
Our scholarship is currently funded by donations and the proceeds from two dedicated fundraisers each year. Our leadership and participants remain committed to growing our annual scholarship through programming and the generous support of alumni, parents, and friends of UVA. Will you help us in this endeavor?
Thank you for your support of our local students!

Mr. Jefferson believed education was the most effective way to establish an organized, informed, and capable society. Moreover, he felt that institutions of learning should be financially supported by the general public; scholarship could be obtained by people from varied social and economic backgrounds.
In this same vein, the UVA Club of Charlottesville established a scholarship in 2019 to provide financial assistance to an incoming student from the greater Charlottesville area. Our annual recipient comprises the Jeffersonian qualities of citizenship, leadership, and integrity, and demonstrates a financial need.
The annual scholarship of $500 will be awarded to one student. To inquire about the application, please call the UVA Fund at (434) 243-9000.

The UVA Club of Charlottesville hosted a variety of activities over the past year to connect alumni, faculty, and University-connected family and friends. Working to offer a little something for everyone, the year saw a variety of social events that brought Hoos together, including four watch parties, Hoos for Dinner outings at various restaurants, polo at Kings Family Vineyard, darts and bowling at Sun Pins, horseback riding, pickleball, star gazing at the McCormick Observatory, the One-Man Poe Show, a few vineyard outings, and more.
We connected with and supported the Charlottesville community through volunteer participation at Ronald McDonald House and Camp Holiday Trails, and we adopted the UVA Food Pantry as our 2025-2026 philanthropy.
Our Hoos Reading Hoos Book Club offered the chance for participants to explore a variety of genres, all written by UVA-affiliated authors.
We spread the orange and blue joy by welcoming area students admitted to UVA to Carter’s Mountain and we had an ice cream social for those who enrolled and others in the community who wanted to connect over gelato and trivia. We awarded Thomas Jefferson Book Awards to several deserving local high school students and awarded scholarships to two accomplished students, supporting their UVA journey.
We closed 2025 with a spectacular Hooliday Party in the Rotunda. With evening remarks from Thomas Jefferson and a band that kept guests entertained, it was a fitting culmination to a Hoo-tastic year!
