Event Details

All UVA alumni, friends, and families in the Richmond area are invited to attend a screening of “Pep Banned” at the Byrd Theater with the UVA Club of Richmond on Saturday, July 25. Doors open at 1:30 p.m., and the 90-minute film starts at 2 p.m. Concessions will be available for purchase.

“Pep Banned” is a 2025 feature-length documentary, produced by former UVA Pep Band member Ron Culberson (Col ’83) and directors Chris Farina (Col ’82) and Bill Reifenberger, that chronicles the rise and the fall of the infamous UVA Pep Band that performed on Grounds from 1974 until it was disbanded in 2003. The film was a huge hit when it premiered in front of a sold-out crowd at the Virginia Film Festival in October 2025 and then again in front of 700 people at Charlottesville’s Paramount Theater in March 2026.

Reconnect with the legacy of the pep band or discover more about this renowned student-run ensemble alongside fellow HOO enthusiasts. There will be a short Q/A after the movie viewing.

Parking Information:

Parking for The Byrd Theatre is available in the two-level deck directly behind the theatre off Colonial Avenue, or on the surrounding Carytown streets. The dedicated parking deck is a paid lot ($1 for 12 hours).
