UVA Club of Charlottesville: Honor Week Run with Jim & Other Events

The UVA Club of Charlottesville, in partnership with the UVA Honor Committee, invites you to celebrate Honor Week with a special Run with Jim. All students, alumni, friends, and families are invited to join this casual, meet-up-style run/walk with President Jim Ryan. We are hoping to have lots of local Wahoos in attendance representing the Honor Code’s connection with the broader Charlottesville community.

Meet at Madison Hall at 7:15 a.m. for a 4-mile fun run/walk through Grounds. A 2-mile option will also be available. See the route map below. We will leave promptly at 7:30 a.m. All abilities and energies are welcome to participate. All attendees will receive a “Run With Jim” t-shirt while supplies last.

Following the run at 8:30 a.m., stick around for free Bodo’s Bagels and a chance to chat with the current Honor Committee members. All questions and reflections welcome!

Want to take a deeper dive into honor at UVA? The Honor Committee is extending a special invitation to local Wahoos to participate in the following scheduled activities during the week of February 10:

Wednesday, February 12 from 5-6 p.m.

Hotel C (“Jeff Hall”) on the West Range

Join us for a spirited debate between the Jefferson Literary and Debating Society and the Washington Literary Society and Debating Union! A favored Honor Week tradition, the debate between the University's two prominent student debating societies is both entertaining and thought-provoking. Each society produces a team, who craft innovative arguments about contemporary challenges to the Honor System.

The event will be held in Hotel C on the West Range, which is across the road (McCormick Road) from Shannon Library. Parking is available at the Central Grounds Parking Garage. Refreshments will be provided.

Honor Week Fireside Chat with Thomas Hall and Michael Lenox.

Thomas Hall (Col '02, Law '06) and Michael Lenox (Engr '93, '94) will discuss their experiences as Chairs of the Honor Committee, the role of integrity in their careers, and contemporary challenges to the Honor System and Community of Trust. Their candid "fireside chat" will span a variety of topics that resonate with students, friends, parents and alumni of the University. This event will serve as the "keynote" of Honor Week 2025 and will include a catered dinner.
