Black History Museum & The Art of Freedom II Exhibit (in-person)
Overview
Join Lifetime Learning and the UVA Club of Richmond for an evening of art and conversation at Richmond’s Black History Museum. Explore the museum and the Art of Freedom II exhibit, which presents over 70 pieces reflecting the artists’ views of freedom in 2023 – successes, failures, war, and disease, to name a few of the themes. Following a reception, UVA’s Kevin Gaines, the Julian Bond Professor of Civil Rights and Social Justice in the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, will provide remarks that will put some of the pieces in historical, social, and political context.
