This is a community club and you have taken the first step in being a part of a vibrant community that is passionate about the University. We invite all friends of UVA to get involved and join us for our upcoming events and programs.
The mission of the UVA Club of Jacksonville is to foster ongoing relationships between the University of Virginia and the local community of alumni, parents, and friends of UVA through a series of educational, networking, athletic, charitable, and social events.
The club supports the UVA Admissions Office to encourage local high school students to apply for admission to attend the University as their college of choice. On average 6-7 local students enter UVA each year. The UVA Club of Jacksonville sponsors an annual August reception for those area students and their parents, seeking to help support these students early and often. In addition, we are a sponsor of the Jefferson Book Awards, which honor local high school students who exemplify Jeffersonian ideals. Throughout the year we also gather for fun social events where our area Hoos can network and enjoy the fellowship of other spirited Wahoos.
The UVA Club of Jacksonville Scholarship
Established by club president, Lee Poechmann (Arch ’97) in 2013 to provide assistance to student leaders from the Jacksonville area, the annual scholarship will be awarded to an incoming first-year student from the area with preference for high scholastic achievement.
